Applesauce Cake (Favorite of Papa Bill)

Grease and flour 13x9” pan (I used a Bundt pan). 

Sift together into bowl:

·         2 ½ Cups Sifted flour

·         2 Cups Sugar

·         ¼ tsp. baking powder

·         1 ½ tsp. baking soda

·         1 ½ tsp. salt

·         ¾ tsp. cinnamon

·         ½ tsp. ground cloves

·         ½ tsp. allspice

Beat in:

·         ½ Cup soft shortening

·         ½ Cup water

·         1 ½ Cups unsweetened applesauce

·         2 eggs

Stir in:

·         ½ Cup chopped walnuts

·         1 Cup Raisins

Pour in prepared pan. Bake until cake tests done at 350 degrees for 45 – 50 minutes. Cool.
